Have "Popular" ideas sorted by popularity
Right now “Popular” seems to be an alias for “New.” |

Open source the community site
There’s a ton of devs in this awesome community, I wonder whether we could generate more interest in the community site and some cool pull requests for new features if the code for the community site was available on GitHub? I’m thinking things like syntax highlighting in source view, better search, more metadata & testing metadata, etc? |

Add dependency check in cookbook
It will be nice if we can provide possibility to check if a package is present for sample : if has_package?(‘apache2’, ‘>1.1.2’) #do stuff end For a recommended package in metadata.rb : recommends “apache2” |

(re)generate private user key is hard to find
I guess other people are much smarter than me … however, it took me 40minutes to finally find a link to generate my private user key (which is needed to follow the excellent fast-start guides). No such option in management console / users , no option in edit my profile where I can set country / email / irq alias – finally I found it (rather by coincidence) in “show your public profile” – as the name suggests “see how your data is shown to others” I was rather surprised to find an option to generate my private user key here – while management console / user / user name is showing my public key only – please place the link to generate private user key on more pages |
